Only doing things you like is a great way to ruin your life

Because it ruined mine.

10 years ago, my entire schedule looked like this:

  • play video games
  • eat whenever food is ready
  • sleep

It might sound like a dream to you.

But living in it is a different story.

It was depressing.
I couldn't even smile for the camera on my birthday.

I had:

  • no purpose
  • no skill
  • no future
And on track to a miserable life.

When my mom asked me to get a job,
I was annoyed but deep down inside I knew she's right.

So I got a minimum wage job working 9 hours, 6 days a week.

It's not something I wanted to do.
But I did it because something really had to change.

And things did change.

In that job, I found my purpose,
learned invaluable soft skills.
And it kick-started my entire journey to becoming a hacker.

If I chose to play video games over job hunting that day?
I would still be trapped in that miserable "wonderland".

So for the love of god, stop only doing things you like!

Instead, go read a new book, go to the gym.
Go do whatever that's going to make you a little bit uncomfortable today.

(If you want the ultimate discomfort, go get OSED )
